Local Hotel Changes NameOne year ago last week Hugh and Helen Leslie took over ownership and operation of the Glen Rose Hotel. It has been an interesting year, both for the Leslie’s and Glen Rose residents, watching changes and improvements take place. The newly renovated exterior of the hotel reveals the warmth and charm that this landmark once had years ago.A cobblestone walkway, where a racing jockey lights the way, welcomes guests to the restored front porch, which is accented by an overhead antique fan. The lobby, which over the years has shown its age, has taken on a warm and inviting atmosphere. The antique wall fixtures and ceiling chandeliers have been restored and the old furniture refinished and reupholstered. A cozy television corner has been installed for guests, as well as a separate game room, which houses a pool table and T.V. tennis. In the center of the lobby, a once rusted drinking fountain is now encased in an attractive mahogany frame. Most of the guest rooms have been completely redecorated by the Leslie’s, as well as both hallways. Two complete apartments have been added with wall-to-wall carpeting and full kitchens, along with two additional kitchens on each floor for those guests with single rooms. However, paint and carpeting often weren’t enough. Interrupted by such crisis as water pipes breaking, faulty wiring, and falling ceilings, the Leslie’s still managed to convert the old building into a comfortable and interesting hotel. When they bought the hotel the nightly occupancy averaged three rooms. Today it averages over 30 rooms per night, and along with a new look and a new occupancy, high above the hotel hangs a new sign: The Glen Hotel.Asked if it had all been worthit tKo I .oclia'c aotppH that a
