Miss Estelle Burgess, daughter of Mrs. John Burgess of 1922 Ninth, and Dwight W. Parken of Dwight, Kas., son of Mrs. Alta B. Parken of Lawrence, Kas., were married Saturday at 8 o'clock at the home the bride’s mother with Dr. Jack M. Lewis, pastor of the First Presbyterian church, reading a single ring ceremony. An altar was improvised in front of the fireplace with can delabra on either side and pink and white asters decking the man tle. Mrs. Carlos Reynolds, pianist, an aunt of the bride, accompanied Mrs. Sidney Burgess, her sister in-law, as she sang “All For You and “Because.” She played “Liebestraum” during the cere mony. Anita and Juanita Reynolds, twin cousins of the bride, lighted the candles from candles they car ried in nosegays. The bride wore a moss green suit with black and white accessor ies and a gold pin and bracelet belonging to her grandmother. Her flowers were gardenias. Mrs. Burgess, mother of the bride, wore a black faille dress and a corsage of gladioli. A reception was held after the ceremony and a three-tiered cake, topped with a wedding bell, was served with punch by Mrs. Charles Beavers, Miss Mary Appling and Miss Anna Sue Barron. Candles in nosegays lighted the bride's table which was decorated by streamers of ivy. The couple has gone to New Mexico for a wedding trip and will be at home in Manhattan, Eas., after Nov. 1.
