WM. J. DOOLEYWilliam J. Dooley, 39, of William Gordon Dooley, one of vaudeville's most famous head, line attractions, died at mid. night, Wednesday, September 28th, at his home, 308 West 97th Street, New York City. Death was caused by concussion of the brain resulting from a fall ear-Her In the day. Dooley collapsed after leaving a taxicab at the stage entrance of the Palace Theatre just before matinee time. Wednesday. He was appearing at the Palace with his brother Gordon and the Morin Sisters. He was rushed to his home In an ambulance and five surgeons were summoned but their efforts were unavailing.The body was shipped to his mother’s home at 6022. Locust Street, Philadelphia, Pa., Thursday, September 29th. The remains were accompanied by his mother, who was visiting him at his residence In New York and was at his bedside when he died. Funeral services were held from the Philadelphia address Sunday, October 2nd. He was a member of the Catholic Church.Zena Morin, of the Morin Sisters, wife of the deceased, was prostrated by the tragedy. Besides his parents, two brothers, Gordon and John, and a sister, Rae Dooley, survive. The Dooleys are one of the best known theatrical families In this country.He was a member in good standing of the National Vaudeville Artists, Inc., and his beneficiary will be the recipient of $1000 insurance from the organization.Harry Watson, Jr., replaced the act at the Palace for the remainder of the week.
