The late Mr. Marvatt.t.itp.inHi•aii»y\es.r-a.n-C*BAt evening service Ia9t Sunday the minister of the Episcopal church, sketched the life of Thomas i'enn Mary alt, and noted the strong and exemplary features of his character.Our readers are acquainted already with the outline of Mr. Marvatt s career, which was published la9t week Commenting on the cordial welcome given him on his return to Weiser after five years absence, the preacher pointed out the value of a reputation baaed on true manliness, absolute honesty, and the capacity for usefulness. lie showed how the variety of experience, which Mr. Marvatt had known previous to his _ engagement as an instructor ami superintendent at the Idaho Industrial Institute, as a student, teacher, farmer, man of business^ and lawyer, qualified him eminently to assist youths in their preparation for the activities of life, especially so, as his various occupations had been discharged faithfully and with ability. That the deceased gentleman had not left a fortune was accounted for by his unselfishness and disinterestedness. There were several things of which ho thought more than of money-making. Nothing could tempt him to leave the Institute, though he was a poor man there, and there were ways of comparative wealth open to him; but where he felt he could be of the greatest service to others is where Mr. Maryatt felt he ought to be, and he was true to his conviction of duty m this as in all other matters. Mr. Taylor referred to the broad scope of his subject's reading and study, his interesting and instructive conversation, and his love of music. His social chaim was of great value to the studenU in hia charge, and in recreative as well as serious relations with them he was a model teacher, unfailingly kind, sympathetic, and ready to assist them in every way possible, (irief at bis death was sincere on the part of all the young people, whose jives had been every day *enefited by his instructions, good counsel.and example. Mr. Muryatt's industry was unflagging, and measured by what he accomplished in it, his life was a long one.
