A strange suit was settled in Circuit Court Tuesday morning by Charles E. Brooks receiving 31,000 from the Penn sylvania Company. A year ago, when Brooks was an infant, his mother was injured by a train, and he was deprived of her care. His father sued for $10, 000 damages. We have before us a very neat vol ume of “Songs and Ballads,” by our es teemed friend, Herman Rave. It has 121 pages encased in a pretty and sub stantial cloth back. The contents re flect great credit on the writer, and should be in the home of every one of Herman’s friends—which means every home in Clark county. The volume is sold for the modest sum of 50 cents, — I consider Chamberlain’s Cough Remedy a specific for croup. It is very pleasant to take, which is one of the most important requisites where a cough remedy is intended for use among children. Bottorf. Mr. F. OM. Runyan, the newly ap pointed postmaster, took possession of the post office on Monday, and, with his deputy, Mr. Wm. H. New and handsome boxes have taken the place of the old ones that have been in use in this town for lo, these many years. They are more con venient and have a city hike look. Marrica, Mr. Clarence Beardley and Miss Gracie uffstetter, were married at the rest of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Huffstetter, in Owen township, on Wednesday, the 4th instant. This wedding was the result of answering an advertisement asking for correspond ence, and up to ten days before the marriage neither party had ever seen each other. Mr. Beardley is recently from California. The bride and groom left here in the afternoon of their wed ding day for their future home, at Whitney's Point, N.Y. May health, wealth and happiness always be plenti ful with them.
