Alma C. Miller Green Arrington Alma C. Miller Green Arrington, 80, of Laurel, died Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011, at Wes ley Chapel United Methodist Church in Laurel, with burial in Nora Davis Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7, 2011, at Chapel of Angels Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements. Bonnie Martin Derrow Bonnie Martin Derrow, 92, died at West Marion Community Hospital Wednesday, June 16, 2011. Services were held Monday, June 20, 2011 in Good Shepherd Memor ial Gardens, 5050 S.W. 20th St. in Ocala, Fla. She was the wife of Leonard W. Derrow, Sr., who preceded her in death in Feb. of this year. A native of Laurel, she was born Nov. 23, 1918, one of four daughters of Audrey Leigh and Minnie Milli cent (Flynt) Martin. After high school, she attended and graduated from business school and worked several years in Mississippi before moving to Wash ington, D.C. in 1946. There she took a position as a secretary with the Rural Electrification Administra tion, U.S. Department of Agricul ture. During her career with the USDA, she became a loans analyst, retiring in 1978, after 32 years. She then served as a bookkeeper for Marvel Cleaners and Launderers in Colesville, Maryland, until 1985, when she and her husband moved to “On Top of the World” in Ocala. She and Mr. Derrow were married in 1950, in Washington, D.C. Between 1952 and 1985, they made their home in Wheaton, Maryland, a Washington, D.C. suburb. She was preceded in death also by two sisters, Marie Martin Graham and Joyce Martin Freeman. She is survived by a son, L. William “Bill” Derro, of Washing ton, D.C.; a sister, Betty Ruth Mar tin; a niece, Janis Graham Dowe (Joe); nephews, Rod Freeman (Betty Lynn) and David Freeman (Carla); sisters-in-law, Virginia Good (Nelson), Cornelia Hartman (Charlie), and Lois Derrow; other nieces and nephews and many land nieces and nephews and sends, Roberts Funeral Home in Ocala, Fla. was in charge of arrangements.
