By JEFF EVANS Courier Sportswriter The Bauxite Miners , their first Ouachita Conference victory of the 1975 season with a 27-12 win over the Glen Rose Beavers Friday night at Bauxite. The Miners are now 2-3 for the season and 1-1 in conference play. Bauxite had a total offense of 249 yards on 49 plays for the game. Horace Kitchens gained 158 yards on 17 carries, for a 9.3 average, and scored three touchdowns. Gary Bearden gained 49 yards on six carries and David Allinson picked up 28 yards on eight carries. The Miners had 11 first downs, to three for the Beavers. Passing statistics for the Miners were one of eight for 11 yards for Mitch Tull and one of three for 21 yards for Tim Davis. Glen Rose had 39 rushing plays during the game, gained 62 yards but lost 81, for a net of minus 19 yards. The Beavers scored first, on the fourth play, of the game when Chuck Tully blocked a punt and ran 15 yards for a touchdown. The extra point attempt was no good. The Miners received the kickoff and took over on their 40-yard line. From there they drove down the field with Horace Kitchens ending the drive on a 31-yard run. The extra point attempt by Mickey Stuckey was good. Horace Kitchens reaching paydirt both times on runs of § and 15 yards. One of the extra point attempts was and the other was ; ee the remainder of the , each team forced the other to either make mistakes or punt. The Miners went into the dressing room at halftime with a 20-6 lead. On the Miners’ first Rose 14-yard line after a blocked punt. They could not get anything going and tried a fake field goal from the 12- yard line without success. But on the Miners’ next possession, they started on the Glen Rose 42 yard line and drove down the field with David Allinson capping off the drive with an eight-yard run for a touchdown. The extra point attempt by Stuckey was good. The score stood at Bauxite 27, Glen Rose 6. During the remainder of the game neither team could move the ball until Glen Rose took over on the Miners’ 41 yard line. They put together a short drive and with 20 seconds left scored on a 19 yard pass. The extra point attempt was no good. Next Friday Bauxite will play at Mt. Ida.
