Excitement in the Radical Camp. President Johnson has opened a heavy bat tery on the Radicals. His course in relation to the Revenue frauds has raised a terrible excite ment among them. Prominent politicians of all grades, from the Cabinet down, are implicat ed, and such a fuss has not been kicked up a mong them for a long time. The frauds are over $100,000,000, and those who are charged therewith are all Radicals, all Grant men. The Secretary of the Treasury, Commissioner of Internal Revenue, Senators, members of Con gress, Inspectors, Assessors, Collectors, District Attorneys c. The President has gone to work in earnest to smash up the entire mass of rot tenness, and much quaking is the result. Query—when they steal over $100,000,000 of the people's money with a President oppos ed to them, how much would they steal if they had it all their own way ?—Norfolk Virginian. ASSASSINATION OF GENERAL T. C. Hind MAN.— Memphis, September 20.—General T. C. Hindman, late of the Confederate States Army, was assassinated at his residence, in Helena, last night. The superintendent of police received a dis patch this afternoon directing him to arrest a man named Robbins, passenger on the Shreve, who it is believed commited the deed bins was arrested and sent back. He is from a Mo., and served under Hindman. e stoutly denies being the mrderer. PostmastEr’s SALARIES.—Under the recent re-adjustment of salaries by the Post Office Department, the following amounts are allow ed, as we understand, to Postmasters in the places named below: Lynchburg, $3,200; Liberty, $720; Christ iansburg, $990; Lexington, $2,000; Abingdon, $1,000; Wytheville, $1,000; University, $1, 400 ; Charlottesville, $2,000 ; Staunton, $2,400; Danville, $1,900; Farmville, $1,000. Lynch burg stands fourth in the list, being exceeded by Richmond, Petersburg and Norfolk. Later AbouT THE MuDER OF GENERAL HindMAN.—A special dispatch to the Ava lanche tonight says General Hindman was shot at 10 o'clock last night, while sitting in the midst of his family, smoking. His left hand, which held the pipe, was carried away by the charge of buckshot, two of which entered his neck, inflicting a wound from which he died eight hours aftersarts. It is believed that he was assassinated by a political enemy. A despatch, dated Washington, Oct. 2nd, says that a letter from Arkansas to an ex-Sena tor says registration has been General through out the State, and thousands of colored people will vote the Democratic ticket. The writer, in whom the ex-Senator has confidence, gives the assurance of a full Democratic Congressional delegation from Arkansas, and 20,000 majority for Seymour and Blair. Rapicals Settina Nearoxs are Slay- Ery.—It seems that some time ago some “‘loil’’ men did ship from Mobile at one time about 150 negroes, under a pretext of taking them somewhere elsewhere they would get big wages and have nothing to do; and instead of taking them to that paradise, did carry them over to Cuba and sell them into slavery.— Selma ( Ala.) Journal. Dixiz.—The boy in blue who sits beneath the lintels of the Democrat office and plays the national air of the defunct Confederacy, Dixi has been decorated with a placard bearing this red-hot inscription: “‘I lost my leg in support of the Government; I pay ten dollars a year license to support the bond holder !”’ AccIDENT.— David Spicer, Esq., whilst en gaged in sawing lumber at the Bellefonte Saw mill, a few days ago, had his left hand terribly mutilated by coming in contact with the saw.
