PlansThird Scholarship BenefitThe Women’s Allied Arts Association, Inc., will present its 3rd Annual Scholarship Benefit, Saturday, October 26, 1974, at the Auto Aviation Museum, 10825 East Blvd. at8:00 p.m.The Association, a group of 16 women, was organized in September, 1971, for the purpose of encouraging and supporting young, talented students Interested in pursuing higher education and training in the graphic, technical, scientific, literary or fine arts. Two scholarships are awarded in June of each year to high school graduates continuing their studies inany of these areasFor its program, the Association presents former Clevelanders who have gone elsewhere and have “made their mark.” A guest artist and three honorees are presented. The guest artist this year will be William Appling, native Clevelander,who heads the Music Dept, at Western Reserve Academy, Hudson, Ohio, and who was the first recipient of a Kulas Fellowship in choral conducting. He has appeared asconcert pianist at Town Hall, N Y. and at Severance Hall where he performed as piano soloist with the Cleveland Orchestra.The honorees will be: Dr. Francis Osborne, Jr. senior editor for McGraw-Hill films, a division of Mc-Graw-Hill Book Company, N.Y. and a former research associate,Cleveland Public Schools, inthe Dept, of Curriculum and Instruction. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Osborne, of Cleveland.David Peter L. Sachs, M.D. and Clinical Research Fellow,Division of Respiratory Medicine, Dept, of Medicine, Stanford University School of Medicine, a former rotating intern in Medicine and Anesthesiology, University Hospitals and a former teaching assistant, School of Medicine, Case-Western Reserve.John Morning, graphicdesigner, founder and owner of John Morning Design, Inc., N.Y.; art director, McCann-Erickson, Inc., N.Y.; former instructor in graphic design, Pratt Institute; and visiting critic, Rhode Island School of Design, 1971. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.F. Morning, formerly of Cleveland, now living in Chicago. III.Officers of the Association are: Mrs. Edward T. Johnson, president and founder of the group; Mrs. William Whitley, secretary and Mrs. James M. Whitley, treasurer. Dr. Mary Joyce Green chairs the Scholarship Screening Committee.DAVK SACHS
