Nicky Ronald Smith, 20, died Sept. 23 in a hit-run accident in El Paso. . Smith was struck by a pick-up ok about 9:15 p.m. while walk ‘ng down a street in a residential rea near his home. He died ‘stantly, Sheriff Gray reports. A native of Deming, Smith cut most of his life in rdsburg. He attended public shere, then transferred to Paso’s Eastwood High School for the final three months of his senior year. After graduation, Smith worked for Cashway Lumber Co. The past smmer, he worked part-time for the City of Lordsburg, then traveled around the Southwest efore returning to El Paso in Sep tember. He loved to travel and see few places and people. Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Smith of El Paso, Texas, one Sister, Deanna Kay of El Paso, three brothers, Dennis S. Smith of El Paso and Terry D. and Harold C. Smith both of Tucson, one sister-in-law, Nancy Smith, of Tucson, and a number of aunts and uncles. His maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. E. S. Sweeten, reside in Deming and his paternal gran dmother, Mrs. Annie Hays, lives in Lordsburg. In remembrance of Smith, Wal ter J. Clemmons of Tucson gave the family an Auge Medallion from India, a prized Possession that he had had for many years. It symbolizes eternity. Funeral services were con ducted in the Heather Chapel at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 28, with Rev. Dick Ross of the First Baptist Church officiating. Pallbearers were: Terry and Harold Smith, Ray and Gary Sweeten, George Jonas and Michael Cloudt. Burial was in Mountain View Cemetery. NICKY SMITH
