The general store of Jesse fjbgel in the center of the village on the north side, of the highway was',, surrounded by - a miniature, lake several feet In depth, due to the. fact that -the store rests on a lower level. than the surrounding ground. Water wa,s kept from entering the store .only because of a high floor level.The homes of Miss Viola-Worthington, Forrest Maggert, James Rolf and Professor Shibler were all surrcamded by the flood waters op to the. porch level with , water pouring in the. cellars .and doing slight'damage. All these houses are on the north side of the road across from ,the creek.E.yS, Cox, proprietor of the other- general store of. the village located on the south side of the road ,east of the. crossroad reported that at ah early hour this morn-ing water was up to his, door stef and all . over the road to a depth of several inches or” more., Busses and highway traffic was held up for a short while during the eary hours..
