Tb« Naprfme Court NuitnKm the ftentmceIidinmihI.Denver, September 30.—The Supreme Court this morning settled the case of Abe Taylor, the Conejos county murderer, by affirming the Judgment of the district court and setting the week commencing Sunday, October 20, as the week of execution.The opinion of the court this morning was written by Justice Cambell, and sustained all the contentions of Assistant Attorney General Secor, who appeared on behalf of the state. Attor-vxrtmmiU utf UUP £feS£]f4..A*based their claims for a reversal of judgment on errors of the courts below.The crime for which Taylor will hang was committed last spring and consisted in the killing of Marshal Charles Emerson of Alamosa, who was attempting to arrest him for committing a theft. Taylor and a young man named Thompson wore offering for sale In Alamosa a load of oats which they had stolen in the town of La Jara. The marshal apprehended the pair as they were in the store and. yielding to him, they left and seated themselves on the wagon. Under some pretext they iuduced the marshal to dismount from the wagon, and while he was on the ground Taylor grabbed a gun from his companion and. tiring, mortally wounded Emerson. He claimed that in doing so he only intended to disable him, as he feared his own life was in danger. Thompson was also tried for the murder and is now in the penitentiary. He Is a youth of 17 or 18 years of age.
