The jury returned a Yerdiot of “not guilty.” Four ballots were taken, the jury being equally, divided on the llrst, 7 to 0 for acquittal on fclie second, 11 to 1 on the third and unanimous on the fourth. Intense, but subdued excitement prevailed in the court room When the jury filed in, Mrs. Bennett, the defendant, alone rein dining calm,' and undisturbed. The court room resounded with cheers when the verdict was announced, anil the crowd, including Judge Weaver, surged around the defendant to offer congratulations. Expressions of approval of the verdict are heard on all sides.
