On the 20tb of Xov., 1826, he was married to Miss .Me hi table Preble in Batb, Maine. Eleven Children were bom to them while they lived jD Maine-all of them grew up to be men and women and all married before death invaded tlieir ranks. Henry, Charles and David are citizens of this place. Elizabeth ia a citizen pf Hudson in thiscounty and Susan of Mfc. Auburn, Benton County. Mr. Mitchel moved lo Mendota. Ul.. in 1849 and bom their to Manchester, Iowa, in 1855. In the spring of 1859 be moved to this place and has been a resident here ever since.At the tender age of eighteen Mr. Mitchel became a convert to religion sum uuiucd with the Free*iv;j] Dabtist cuureh in tbe year 1825, He remained a member in good standing in that c'mrch until sometime during the summer of 1862, when he became converted to the doctrines tnught by the Seventh Day Adventists, and joined tnat organization. IVe could never see that the change he made in going from one church to another made any difference in his daily walks. He wag a Christian before, and lie was still a Christian. Mr. Micciiel lust his wife Dee. 28th. 1872. On the 18th day of 8ep., 1873, he was married to Miss .JuJia E. Crocker who survives Lilia.Mr. Mitchel was a resident of tlm place almost thirty years. He was a6'net, modest, unassuming citizen_always and ever ready, as far as was in his power, to lend a helping hand to the poor and Jisedy.
