C., on the 24th nit. He died a victim of the fatal fever which for a few weeks past has fearfully prevailed iu New Berne. We are per fitted to make the following extracts from a letter written by Lieut. William M. Pratt, of General Har-land’s staff, to the family of the deceased:“The evening before Aaron's death, he was quite delirious; and several timet while I was sitting by him be cried, * Mother, mother !* The nurses informed me that he used the same expression repeatedly through the night. White I was with him iu the morning, he was perfectly conscious, although very weak, and fully realized his situation. He said to me, 11 am sorry to bid you all flood bye. Give my love to father and all. With Jesus for my friend, I hope 1 am uot afraid to die.’ At the time 1 left, he had fallen into a drouse, from which I understand he never fully recovered, although he rallied sufficiently to say a few words. The cbaplaiu, who arrived avter I left, tells me that among the last words be spake, were, * Mother,* and ' Sister Lizzie;* and after a few minutes of great pain., hi* features relaxed into a quiet smile, a* if imagining himself among the dear ones at heme. This bright and beautiful Sabbath morning, with a large number of hit comrades, I followed hie remains to their rest-h'g place. All that is mortal of your noble boy now lies iu an honored grave in the Soldiers* Cemetery at New Berne; but those of ua who knew his good principles, hi* kindness of heart, his generous impulses, and Btrict integrity, canoot doubt that hia sins are forgiven, and that be now is in a happier world.**
