Claimed World’s Fastest Growing Cityva-ves, iMayor Eugene Bernard, left, enlisted local business men to erect sign at entrance to Val D’Or, rapidly growing mining community in the newly discovered ore zone of western Quebec, to prove that in 12 years the city had an increase of 1500 per cent in population. Postwar plans are for the handling of gold, zinc and copper from nearby mines.
