OBITUARYMyrtle Alice Jones Blanchard, eldest daughter of Dr. VV. A. and Althea Jones, of Cantril, and wife of W. VV. Blanchard of Milton, was born July 19, 1869, at Winchester, Iowa, Van Buren county, and died at Milton September 22, 1917, aged 48 years, 2 months and 3 days. In January, 1876, the Jones family moved to Cantril where they have ever since lived.She united with the Christian church in early life, under the preaching of Elder Jasper N. Smith, and to the best of her ability, was an active worker in the activities of the church.She was married to W. W. Blanchard on May 9, 1888. To this union were born daughters, Miss Rae of Greely, Colorado; Mrs. Wm. Mingus of Sweetwater, Texas; Miss Helen of Hazelgreen, Kentucky; Miss Neal and one son, Jones, of Milton, all present.Mrs. Blanchard was a woman of more than ordinary power of mind and heart, making herself felt in all work in which she was engaged, whether in church or the social field. Her genial disposition and ready wit made her a favorite with all classes. As wife, mother, friend and neighbor she was will to do more than her part.Besides her husband and children, father, mother, sister Miss Carrie, of Cantril, two brothers, 1. T. Jones of Des Moines and Neal Jones of Omaha with other relatives and friends.Funeral services conducted by the Rev. P. D. Holloway, Monday at 2 p. m. at the Christian church, after which the body was laid to await the summons from on high. Milton Herald.
