We are glad to notice the nice notices the papers of western Kun san are giving the Western branch of the State Normal school located , on the Ft Hays Reservation. In fact there is no reason why every paper in the state shouldn’t keep the subject prominently be fore their readers as it is ( matter the whole western half of the State) and every parent are deeply in terested in as it brings 2 State Educational institution to their sec tion of the state, meaning dollars in their pocket. For Haye is doing all it can to make it a success, even making the Board to the students as low as at Emporia, Topeka, Lawrences or Manhattan. Every student is made welcome and at home and so far every student is enchanted with the school, it a beautiful location at the old Fort, and the splendid outfit furnished by the Regents for school students .The Plainville Gazette says: “The Kansas State Normal school has opened at Hays with a good attendance. The 2nd Fall quarter will commence Nov. 10th. To date the following counties outside of Ells have sent pupils, Rooks, Rush, Osborne, Ellsworth Trego, , Gove, Graham and Thomas. The young person seeking a practical ceation can do no better than attend this fine school. Its instructors are of the highest rank and its facilites are the best.” Editor H. W. Foltz kindly gives the school this nice editorial in his Natoma, Rooks county, ‘Courier’ and Luray, Osborne county ‘Herald’ —‘*We are glad to learn that the Hays branch of the State Nor mal has a good attendance and is starting off auspiciously in every way. It will in time without doubt grow into a great education al institution that will be the pride of western Kansas. Young people who are expecting to spend the next year at some go school need go no further than Hays to find it. This state has many pri vate schools which are self de nominated universities in reality they are nothing but boarding schools, often poorly equiped and usually having teachers of little ability and experience. The State of Kansas is bend the Hays Vormai and it is bound to succeed.
