Thomas A. English, Seven Year Old Lad Sustains Serious Injuries in a Runaway Sunday Afternoon, Thomas A. English, the seven year old son of John A. English, agent for the Singer Machine Company at this place was the central figure in a run away Sunday afternoon about four o’clock which attracted much atten tion and created great excitement on Hazel street. The lad was in the machine wagon and was driving Mr. English's old horse, at the corner of Hazel and Sec ond when a stone, thrown by another boy struck the horse, who began buck ing, kicking up and running. The dash board was soon gone and not very long afterwards, the boy himself took a tumble in front of J. H. Mc Hugh’s residence. Falling upon the shafts in front, he was thrown be neath the wheels and run over by the vehicle. Though it was thought at first that his case might be hopeless, his injur ies proved not so serious. Dr. L. EB. Willis, who made the examination, found that two of the upper ribs were broken near the breast bone. No in dications of internal injuries are ap parent, though the body of the boy was badly bruised. He is resting well at his home at 600 Newport avenue. The horse was finally stopped in an alley back of Whittaker’s, the shafts, forepart and one wheel of the wagon being broken.
