Try Smith's Chill Pewer Tonic. The great Florida Wonder. Mr. Frank Fortner, of Oak Hill, was in town last week, Messrs. J. H. Riviere and A. G. Liles went to Tampa Friday, re turning by Saturday's boat, Ex-Gov. George F. Drew Dead. George F. Drew, the f1st demo cratic governor of Florida after the war, died at his home in Jack sonville last Wednesday. He was seventy-three years of age and had been active in developing Florida's interest since 1865 at which time he came to the state engageing in the lumber business In 1874, two years before he was chosen chief executive of Florida, he, with Mr. Bucks, owned the most ex tensive saw mill property in the state, situated at Ellaville. The writer was employed at these mills a part of that year and saw Mr. Drew almost daily, as he passed around among the employees, all of whom had the highest regard for him. It is supposed that death was caused from grief over the death of his wife which occured only a few hours previous to his, he hav ing just completed the arragements for her funeral when he too was taken off. The double funeral services were held on Thursday, witnessed by one of the largest assemblies ever seen in Jackson ville, whose citizens knew and honored the ex-governor because they knew his real worth.
