xruiivP-cuurb, auu uuch rtvo.A Journalist’s Career.—Mr. Thomas Littleton Holt, the well-known journalist, who has just, passed away, was the original of Montague Tigg in “ Martin Chuzzlewit ,” though the portrait was so overdrawn as to be barely recognisable even by Holt’s intimate friends. He “ struck ile ” during the railway mania of 1845—though in a more legitimate way than Mr. Tigg—and for two years or so rode about in a cabriolet with a tiger behind, and lived in great state. His speculation failed, however, as everything failed with him, and he returned cheerfully to the drudgery of the daily journalist. He leaves many friends who keenly regret his loss, and whom he used to entertain with accounts of his varied experiences, which, if written, would make one of the strangest biographies that all the literature of Bohemia possesses.A Wellington telegram, dated Sept. 26th.
