Felice Schachter simplytakes her life in strideBy ANNE GALLAGHERIn a twist of the rule, the good girl wears black in “Zapped!,” the high school-ish comedy that has been bringing TV favorites Scott Baio and Willie Aames before movie theater audiences since Labor day.However, dark-haired actress Felice Schachter — cast as Bernadette, the girl who saves the day for Baio and ends up in his arms, as well — would have been content to play the villainess in the picture. As it was, blond, fair-haired Heather Thomas won that part.“I tried out for both roles,” said Schachter, in Chicago recently to promote the film before resuming her studies at Brown university. “I was asked at one point which character I liked better. I said Bernadette. She’s smarter than Jane (the blond) and a stronger character. She’s taken more seriously too, and I want to be — everyone wants to be.“I’D HAVE loved to do Jane as a goof, though,” Schachter said. “It would have been so much unlikeme.”Schachter, who has been compared to actress Brooke Shields for the physical attributes the two have in common, is serious about her acting career but taking a low-key attitude toward its importance in her life now. “I’m concentrating on school now,” said the college sophomore. “I want to figure out what my philosophy of life is and what my views are. I did twoFelice Schachter portrays the female lead in “Zapped! In this scene, she is pictured with Willie Aamesepisodes of ‘Facts of Life’ (a TV soaper) last year, and I’ve been offered stuff pretty regularly. But I feel if they want me now, they’ll want me when I’m 21 and have finished college.“If the chance of a lifetime came, I’d probably take time off, but now I’m working on offers that will let me work when I’m not in school. Most great actresses don’t make it until they’re at least, 30 — think about (Jane) Fonda, or (Jill) Clayburgh, or (Meryl) Streep “I don’t want to be just famous either,” said Schachter. “I want to be one of the best actresses and taken seriously. I want to knock people off their feet!
