FORT WORTH — The Devotion of the Forty Hours, which commemorates the forty hours Our Lord’s Body lay in the tomb, will open Sunday at the 10:00 o’clock Mass in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. This Mass will be a Solemn Mass, and the Procession of the Most Holy Sacrament will take place at the end of this Mass. St. Charles Borromeo This Devotion was first in augurated by St. Charles Bor romeo, the great Cardinal Arch bishop of Milan in 1534, and spread rapidly throughout the Catholic world. It was first in troduced into the United States in 1846 by the Saintly Bishop Newmann of Philadelphia. It is now an annual occurance in every Catholic Church the world over. For three days the Blessed Sacra ment remains exposed on the Altar for the public adoration of the faithful. Special Masses, services, devotions, and sermons are held and preached to encourage the piety and fervor of the people. Officers Officers of the Solemn Mass will be as follows: celebrant, Rev. The Procession will be led by the first Crucifer, Donald Kavar augh, flanked on either side by Eddie Svreek with the American flag and Al Morrey with the Papal flag, immediately behind the cross and flags will come a long line of uniformed small boys and white veiled girls from St. Ignatius Acad emy; then some 20 flower girls strewing rose petals in the path of Our Sacramental Lord. At intervals and interspersed among these children the banners of the various religious societies and confraternities of Saint Pat rick’s Church will be carried by young ladies accompanied by pages and by men of the various church groups. A relic of the True Cross in magnificently decorated shrine will be carried by Tony Witkowski, flanked by Johnny Granado and Joe Cepeda as torch bearers. The Blessed Virgin Mary will be represented by Anne Felix. She will bear the symbolic wheat and grapes of the Great Unbloody Sac rifice.
