Mrs. Sarah Jane Rhodes, the venerable mother of Mrs. E. B. Taylor, died at the Taylor home, 1223 North Second avenue, short ly before five o'clock Tuesday afternoon. Mrs Rhodes had been in poor health for quite a long time past but had been con fined to her room only a few days. A complication of diseases incidental to old age caused her death. , 1. Deceased waves her husband, Mr. J. H. Rhodes, a daughter, Mrs. Taylor, and other relatives to mourn her loss. Mrs. Rhodes was a most reti rable lady. She was not only a devoted Christian but possessed a gentle, kindly disposition which endeared her to all with whom she came in contact, having gained for her numerous friends who join the Commercial in ex tending to the family heartfelt sympathy in the profound gor row which her death entails. The funeral occurred at the Taylor home on North Second, avenue at ten o'clock yesterday morning, having been conducted by Dr. H. G. Henderson, pastor of the First Methodist church.
