J. P. Jonrs and W. B. Cummings, in doing prospect work, have discovered they have a bonanza in the Mabelle group, about one miic north of town. They had been working on a ledge And has exposed it to a depth of 15 feet, when they decided to send some samples to Tonopah friends. These samples at Tonopah were submitted to an assayer at one of the big mines. His report showed the values to be $278.37.Remarkable progress has been made in mine development in Austin dtirtug the past four months, and the preliminaries have been so shaped that the work will soon be augmented each month in geometrical ratio. The burden of the work so far has been of a pro liminary nature, akin to the excavations and foundations for a great building. It had to be done before the superstructure could begin to rear its walls toward the skyline. So it has been with the Austin mines this summer. Work in every direction, preliminary to a great program of production, has been going forward quietly, and with that well directed precision that eliminates all possibility of failure. These methods have been conspicuous in the operation* of the Austin-Manhattan Consolidated Mining company..1. A. Miller, through Jos. A. Vincent of Philadelphia, has given to a syndicate of eastern capitalists a 60 day op tion on the Kingston properties, in eluding the Kingston group of mines and the Kingston ranch of 800 acres, whieh holds the valuable water rights of Big Smoky creek. The option calls for substantial payments at the end of 60 days, the balance being distributed through the ensuing two years. Total figures run well up in the thousands. The personnel of the syndicate leaves no doubt as to the ability of the contemplating purchasers to handle the property successfully.Their engineer is now on the ground making complete examination and report, which is to include complete work ing plans for mining and milling.S. E. McIntyre anil Geo. K. Crowell have taken a lease on the East property at Clear Creek, and will s. nd out men this week to begin work.Specimens of ore brought in by Mr. McIntyre panned free gold, giving a string of yellow metal over an inch long. The gold is coarse and the ledge matter a commingled mass of oxidized porphyry and chunks of hard quartz.Mr. McIntyre savs he has never seen better surface showings in gold than at Clear Creek.
