PROCLAMATION, The Republican, makes a public proclamation thatJoshua Whitney, John W. Harpur and some others arc true blue Whigs^ Whaever doubted this? They were nursed m federalism in the days of Hamilton, it grew up to manhood with them during the days ofthe war and James Madison’s administration, and it remains with them now in their old age. As wellmight oti change the spots upon the leopard as afederalist of this class, or as soon turn the Niagara as prevent them from voting the whig ticket. It needed no proclamation from the Republican for certain weare to find all such at the ballot box and voting forthe men who said they were adventurers “ wanting principles and wanting bread/* It is just as natural for such men to be whigs as it is for the Susquohan-nah to empty itself into the Chesapeake Bay.
