PRIVATE THEATRICALS,i- , * x* . *S. . . „'-maamrnm^mntmmmrmAmongst the number of private-Theatres! that have lately risen inter repifte* Mr,.Leigs's^ at Adlestrop, claims no small regard from the lovers of dramatic exhibitions. The tragedy of Venice Preserved Was lately performed gt that gentleman’s seat* in a style that reflefted'the highest credit on the performers,. The principal parts were cast in the following manner:J’offerj Mr. Leigh.Pierret Mr. T. Twisleto^*Behidirdj Lady Saye and SelE.The eppassioned parts of Belvidera were admirably pourtrayed fay Lady Saye and Sele; who discovered a degree of excellence seldom to be found within the walls of a gentleman’s Theatre ; her mad scene was particularly aftefting, and drew tears from the greatest part of the audience. Mr. Leigh’s Jaffier, was a faithful, por* trait of the tender and affedtionate husband ; in the last scene in the fourth a£i, he was uncommonly successful, though we would recommend it to him the next time he appears on the boards, not to imitate in so great a, degree the manner and gestures of a late discarded performer. Mr. r. Tvsisleton possesses all the natural requisites for the bold and intrepid Pierre:—a manly person, a graceful deportment, and a fine toned voice, are qualifications which nature has lavished upon him iri so eminent a degree, that ho one who had the pleasure of seeing his performance can doubt, but when time shall have matured his judgment* he will*, at least, equal any gentleman competitor he may meet with: The other charafters were well performed. The company who, attended the representation, consisted of the ladies»and gentlemen of the first fashion in the neighbourhood. The whole, concluded with a grand supper and ball, and the evening passed off with the utmost conviviality.
