Fourth quarter surge lifts Trojans past WoodbridgeUniversity scores 21 unanswered points to win, 35-21By Tim BustIrvine World NewsJust when it looked like Woodbridge High's football team was about to get into the win column, University took control Friday night.The Trojans scored 21 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to defeat the Warriors, 35-21, in a nonleague game in front of about 3,200 fans at Irvine Stadium.Woodbridge (0-4) held a 21-14 lead going into the fourth quarter before University (3-1) rallied todefeat Woodbridge for the second year in a row. Woodbridge leads the series, 11-10.I challenged our kids at half-time, said University Coach Mark Cunningham. We needed to play with more enthusiasm and we needed to be more focused.Woodbridge certainly was and I challenged our kids to respond and they did.University was led offensively by quarterback A.J. Moskus, who completed 7 of 10 passes for 136 yards and three touchdowns.Senior Kendell Young, celebrating his 17th birthday, also stood out, scoring three touchdowns.He rushed for 102 yards on 13 carries and also caught two passes for 71 yards.God gave me the strength to do my thing, said Young. It was my birthday today and I was making too many excuses.
