Tuesday evening, the Varland gro cery stock was moved from the Wat ney building on south Main street, to the C. O Highland building on north Main street, recently vacated by Star key and Knutson, who moved their clothing stock to Story City the first of September. Mr. Varland has occupied the Wat ney building since he moved to Roland in 1937, when he purchased the gro cery stock from Mr. Bleasdell, who had operated the store for some time. The Varland Grocery was forced to move because of the building’s being sold to Orris Osheim, who comes here from Des Moines, to open a hatchery in the building. Mr. and Mrs. Varland t have occupi ed living quarters in the rear of the store, and will now move into apart ments over the Swenson Hardware store. Mr. and Mrs. Osheim expect to move into the rooms vacated by the Varlands this week, and will com mence remodeling the building soon.
