Points from the Closing Speech in theHinsliaw Murder Case.Danville, Ocfc. 2.—Henry N. Spaan, of Indianapolis, began the closing argument of the Hinshaw murder case yesterday in an eloquent appeal for the state. Spaan wap a power against the minister and his presentation was very forcible. In defense of the detectives interested in the prosecution Spaan said: “I do not blameMr. Duncan for his assault on Webster and Byrnes, for the defense hates them for the same reason that the devil hates holy water*’ Taking the defendant’s story as told at the coroner’s inquest the attorney said: “This would-be hero admits himself a coward by his own admissions. After his wife had told him she was shot he says he left her fighting a burglar, while he engaged in a voluntary fight with another, who he says he did not intend to injure, but only to capture/*He raised a new question by displaying the revolver found which witnesses who found it claimed was rusty. “This is a nickel-plated weapon,” said Mr. Spaan, “and nickel doscn’t rust. These stains were blood and they really were removed by the defendant’s brother, Ellsworth, who was afraid to go on the stand.**
