Seven members of that championship team were present and accounted for.Much of the afternoon wus used for a pep rally conducted bythe cheerleaders and band. The rally also paid tribute to current members of the Cowboy squad and the coaching staff.Coach Criswell introduced the team members and said he wanted to make everyone proud of the 1972 team. We are going to win them all if we can.” he suid after commenting on Friday night's game against the Amherst Bulldogs.The 1972 Football Queen wasalso crowned during the afternoon with the honor going to Sandy Kailsback. Kunners-up in the queen contest were Karen Murdock and Mettie Moudy.Afternoon activities ended with a business meeting of Happy exes who had come from as far away as California.In an interview, two members of the school’s First football team agreed that the game had changed considerably since their playing days.Fred Mulkey, now a resident ol Hereford, and W.S. Bill Thomas, now of Plainview, said rule changes and less injuries were the greatest differences today.Thomas, who said he still keeps up with the game, claimed that being offside was different in the old days and there was no such thing as illegal motion.'The Plainview man told of onegame against Hale Center when he got downfield on a punt andnailed the ballcarrier in histracks. 1 thought I wa* offside but I didn’t ever look back, hesaid.Mulkey said that better equipment and more experienced coaches had contributed to players suffering less injuries.
