Poochie, who is running in the 38th race, is the 1966 winner of the Mongrel Marathon. The 1965 winner, Sir D, scheduled ‘for the 22nd race, also came in second last year in the Grand Champion event The remaining two dogs who made it to the Grand Champion race, Fitz and Bingo, are again ventered this year. Fitz was third in 1966 and Bingo was fourth. ‘Fitz is set for the sixth race and Bingo goes into the twelfth. Trophies will be awarded win ners of each preliminary race. Winners of races one through leven go into the first flight; winners of eight through 15 are in the second; winners of 16 through 23 are in the third semi final, and winners of 24 through 30 go into the fourth flight. Then winners of each of these four races will vie for the Grand Champion title Trophies will be given to win ners of each of the four semi final races, and to all dogs that compete in the final race.
