Plans For Better Service For The Baking Industry By The Vocational Schools —IsUnder WayDuring the past four years the Manitowoc Vocational School hasconducted an Apprentice Baker’s-tr• *1 * *;a ■ ’ '** *Class, which proved successful to the extent of attracting the interest of both vocational school people in neighboring cities and representatives of several baking establishments. As a natural consequence of this development,a committee was appointed by the State Department of Vocational Education to study possibilities of further cooperation of the Vocational Schools of the State with theBaking Industry.The first -meeting of this committee tooK place on Oct. 9, at the Manitowoc School. Directors in attendance at the meeting were Chairman H. Heilig, Appleton; L. Evans, Sheboygan; O. Dorr, Fond du Lac, and A .L. Nimtz, Manitowoc. Co-ordinators present were E. Toole, Green Bay; G. Childs, Sheboygan and Charles Conroy, Manitowoc. H. G. Noyes, state coordinator representing the state department of vocational education and F. M. Laufenburg, manager of the Park View bakery and local instructor of baking apprentices also attended and assisted in the formulating of plans for a continuance of the study.The study plan outlined by the state includes a statistical survey of the industry with the probable result of co-operative relationship being built up between the baking industry and the vocational schools throughout Wisconsin.
