A NEW APPLE.Mr. M. P. Jones, of RavennaHeights, has a new apple which wasshown at the King County Pair, anddeserves special mention. He hascalled this Jones’ Seedling. It is atable apple, similar to the Gravensteinand has splendid keeping qualities.Excellent specimens were shown.Mr. Jones, who is considerable of anapple crank, has produced severalvarieties and thinks this is the bestof all. He says this sprout came upabout eight years ago and he ha-taken good care of it, and now has asplendid little tree. It never fails tobear a beautiful yellow apple. Mr.Jones took the first premium, on thisapple and is quite pleased with it.He has started 150 small trees fromthis and expects in time that it willbe one of the best selling apples grownin Western Washington. Two of thelarge nurseries east of the mountainshave now started the work of propo-gating the apple. They think thegreatest value of the new apple is itskeeping qualities, as it keeps untillate in the fall, and is ripe the middleof August. This will make it a splendid shipper. He has given away this year more than four boxes from this little tree, and therefore pleased a great many people. In propogating this his only desire is to give the people a new and better fruit than they have been accustomed to.
