Engagement Announced _One of the pleasant surprises of the holiday season was the announcement of the engagement of Miss Lolita Beldwin Ireland, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Bethune Ireland of Oakvale Avenue, to William Crim Robbing, Jr. The betrothal was an nounced Wednesday afternoon at a» test given at the Francesca Club, San Francisco, by Mrs. Minnie Clarke Por ter, grandmother of the bride-elect; ‘Mrs. William Bethune Ireland, her mother, and Miss Ireland. Assisting in receiving were Mrs. A. Stuart Baldwin, Mrs. John B. Wright, ‘and Mrs. A. N. Buchanan, three aunts of the bride-elect, and Mrs. Walter Scott Franklin, Miss Lynda Buchanan, Mrs. Lawrence Brown, Mrs. James Lowe Hall and Mrs. Stuart Franklin, cousins of Miss Ireland. _ Also in the receiving line were Mrs. Irving Robbins, Mrs. Lloyd Robbins and Mrs. John Sutton, as well as Alpha Phi sorority sisters of the bride-to-be. .As the guests arrived they were presented with betrothal No date has been announced for the wedding. Miss Ireland has traveled abroad extensively with her grandmother and was a student at the College Mont gorency in Paris. She is the sister of Bethune Ireland, who is attending the Tamalpais Boys’ School. She is a graduate of the Anna Head School and the University of alifornia where she was a member of the Alpha ‘Phi sorority. Mr. Robbins is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Crim Robbins of Suisun. Buckley yesterday afternoon at the home of the bride’s mother, Mrs. George B. Greenleaf of San Jose. The bride wore a gown of white moie, made with a full skirt and with a cape shoulder effect and low. neck. Her mother's wedding yell of lace was also worn and she carried lilies of the valley and gar denias. Miss. Frances Greenleaf was the only attendant, wearing a@ gown of turquoise crepe, with cartridge belt trimmings, and carrying Talisman roses. Reginald ‘Theobald, cousin ‘of the groom, was best man. After a honeymoon tip, the couple will live in Alameda. The engagement of the two was announced a short time ago at a tes which Mrs. Samuel Austin Wood gave at her home in San Francisco. The bride is a graduate of Mills College and attended Stanford Uni versity. She is the granddaughter of the late Brigadier General Charles R. Greenleaf. Mr. Buckley is the son of Mrs. Anabel Buckley of Alameda and the late Paul Buckley. His sister is Miss Ruth Buckley. He attended the University of California and is a graduate of Hastings College of Law. He is a member of Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity and is a prac ticing attorney in San Francisco. The Couple to Wed Mr. and Mrs. Edward J. Lynch of San Francisco have announced the engagement of their daughter, Helen, to James Francis Good of Oroville. . Miss Lynch received her M. A. de gree from the University of California in 1931 and is a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority. Mr. Good is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Bernard Good of Oroville, George Good of Berkeley and Eugene Good and Lawrence Good of Oroville are his brothers. Mr. Good is a grad uate of the University of Santa Clara ‘and of its college of law. He is a prominent attorney of Oro ville, where the young couple will make their home. FoM, Asis. and Mrs. L. L. Williams-Futer Nuptials . The’ marriage of Miss Margaret Ruth Puller, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.F.. Fuller of Fort Brags, to Donald Lee Willigins was solemnized at 8 o'clock Wednesday, evening, at the home of the bride’s cousins, Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Chapin of Benvenue Avenue. Half a hundred guests, many of them from out of town, attended the service at which Rev. Warren T. Howe, pastor of the Knox Presby terian Church, officiated. _ The fireplace was banked with quantities of white chrysanthemums and asparagus fern, with tall, wrought iron candalabra and white tapers on either side. Pastel tinted chrysan themums decorated the rooms. A handsome gown of white taffeta in the princess made, made with a slight train, was worn by the bride. Her flowers were a corsage of orchids. She was given in marriage by her uncle, C. E. Wedertz of Wellington, Nevada, Miss Leah Lester of San Francisco, formerly of Walla Walla, Wash., was the maid of honor. Her dress was of Eleanor blue crepe, cut in the formal style, and a corsage of gardening. Senator Dan Williams of Sonora, an old friend of the bridegroom, was the best man. Preceding the service Mrs. H. J. MacAninch gang “I Love You Truly” and the wedding march was played by Miss Patty Chapin, second cousin of the bride. A buffet supper followed the ceremony. After returning from a wedding trip Mr. and Mrs. Williams will live in Walnut Creek where Mr. Williams is in government employ. , The bride is a graduate of the Uni versity of Nevada and was a member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority. She is vice president of the Stanford Chapter of Tri-Delta alumnae in San Francisco. Mr. Williams is a graduate of Whit man College of Walla Walla and is a Beta Theta Pi fraternity man. Zoe Hunter-Bruck. Wedding _ The home of Prof. and Mrs. August Vollmer on Euclid Avenue was the setting for a pretty wedding service last evening at which Mrs. Muriel Bigelow Bruck, secretary of the noted criminologist, became the bride of Thomas Park Hunter, senior student at the University of California. Judge Oliver Youngs officiated and the ceremony was attended by thirty guests. The rooms were lovely with autumn flowers and candle light. A buffet supper followed. Mr. and Mrs. Hunter left for a brief honeymoon and will make their home in Berkeley while Mr. Hunter continues his college course. The bride, who had no attendant, wore a simple frock of dark blue wool, with a lighter blue tunic trimmed with gold buttons.Her flowers were a corsage of lilies of the valley and camellias. Mrs. Hunter is the daughter of R. B. Bigelow of Winter, and has been Prof. Vollmer’s secretary for the past two years. Mr. Hunter is the son of ‘Mrs. George Reed of Fullerton and is a member of the Sigma Phi fraternity, Pete Betrothal Told At a delightful tea given Wednes day afternoon by Mrs. George Pii fold of Plaza Drive, announcement was made of the betrothal of her daughter, Caroline, to Robert D. Harrison. The Pinfolds recently came to Berkeley, from Somerville, New Jersey, and are a pleasant addition to the local social set. The bride-elect at tended private schools in the East and was graduated from Hood Col lege, Maryland. Mr. Harrison is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Harrison of Cap istrano Avenue and is a graduate of the University of Nevada. He is connected with an Hast Bay business concern. The wedding is planned for the spring. Miss Prifold is the sister of Miss Dorothea Pinfold, whose engagement to Gordon Mitchell Bealle of Oak land was announced, last month. ak x ae se # ue _ Plan Berkeley Home Mr. and Mrs. Evarist Byron Wilson, who were married recently in the Little Chapel] of the Flowers, will re side in Berkeley after returning from a honeymoon trip to Southern Cali fornia. Mrs. Wilson is the former Alice Marguerite Chatilion, daughter of Mrs. Anna ,Margrette Chatilion of Ashby Avenue.
