The latest addition to the staff, accord* ing American Consul Richard Boyce, will be Gaston Cournoyer, from Berlin, N, H., who will arrive shortly. Prior to fus tfansfer to Laredo Vice Consul Cournoyer was stationed at Campbellton, New Brunswick. He was on hand early Monday morning measuring off the site for the foundation, and after this preliminary work was completed he started in on the foundation work. Killam, as a business man of keen acumen and a desire , to do something at all times, has now done areal big thing in the economic line for* ■the good of the Laredo Chamber of Commerce, of which he is the 'president. Realizing that the $100 per monthbeing paid out for the rental of the■ . /quarters occupied by the organization could be diverted to channels that•. jwould do great good for Laredo and this section in the way of publicity, etc., President Killam has moved the Chamber of Commerce office. He has assigned to them quarters in the Shelby building, at the corner of Matamoros and Convent occupied by the Killam Interests, free of any rental. The Chamber of Commerce moved to their new quarters last Saturday. This means a saving of $1,200 in rental expenditure alone.Mr. Killam is also president of the South Texas Chamber of Commerce, which held their second annual convention in Laredo last week, and despite the fact that he at first declined re-election, the organization re-elected Kim by unanimous vote.
