W. Johnson in charge. The arrests were made on a warrant sworn to by one George Shoemake, who alleges that he was assaulted and otherwise misused by the two parties. McNab is the owner of the large place near Largo by that name, and Johnson is a herder in his employ. From what we can learn of the difficulty Shoemake had taken up his abodd on a certain strip of land lying within the boundaries of the McNab possessions, which he claimed was still Qovernment land, antj which he also claimed he would remain upon despite the attempts of McNab and Johnson to eject them. This they attempted to do in rather short order style, or at least it would so appear from Shoemake’s story. Justice Sullivan released both defendants on their own recognizance to appear for trial in iiis court—McNab on a charge of battery and Johnson assault—Thursday, December 6th.
