Parsons college today listed the names of 16 alumni who are listed in the current edition of “Who's Who in America.” The list includes nine educators, two clergymen, judge, foreign service officer, crim inal investigator, business executive and nurse. A recent survey conducted by School and Society magazine, an educational publication, named Parsons as one of 289 American colleges which have 15 or more alumni in “Who's Who.” Names of the alumni were obtained by the college from the authors of the survey article. Fourteen on the list are men and two are women. Five are natives of Fairfield and six are natives of Jef ferson county. In each case, the “Who's Who study credited only the college which granted a bach elor’s degree to the person named, regardless of advance degrees from other schools. Names of the “Who's Who” al umni and the dates of graduation are as follows: Mott R. Sawyers, clergyman, (1890). A retired Presbyterian min ister, Sawyers now resides in Minn eapolis, Minn. He is a native of Un ionville, Ia., and coached the first Parsons football team in 1893 William Carter, clergyman, (1891). Carter, who made his home in New York City, died since the publica tion of the current edition of “Who's Who.” A world traveler and pastor of several large Presbyterian churches, he was a native of Pitt ington, England. He was the author of many books. Herbert Ware Reherd, educator, (1893). Reherd is a Presbyterian minister and president emeritus of Westminster college, Salt Lake City, Utah. He is a native of Geneseo, Il. F. Dickinson Letts, judge, (1897). Letts, whose home is in Washing ton, D. C., is U. S. district judge for the District of Columbia. He is a native of Ainsworth and was one of Parsons’ first football stars. William Leonard Pugh, educator, (1897). Pugh is a resident of Spar tanburg, S. C., and a native of Lenox, Ia. He has been a member of the faculty at Wofford college since 1911 and professor emeritus since 1947. Christopher Gilbert Sargent, edu cator, (1899). He is a resident of Grand Junction, Colo., and has held positions in Colorado public schools and colleges since 1912. He is a na tive of Vincennes, Lee county, Ia. George Haines Mount, educator, (1903). A native of Fairfield, Mount is now a consultant psychologist in Los Angeles, Calif. He taught in Iowa high schools and later held faculty positions at Iowa U., North ern State Normal, Iowa State Teachers, Dubuque U., Duke, and Southern California. Ralph Chase Huston, educator, (1906). Huston is dean of the grad uate school at Michigan State uni versity, East Lansing, Mich., a po sition he has held since 1944. He is a native of Fairfield. Hubert Elmer Howard, business executive, (1909). Howard is presi dent of the Binkley Coal Co., Chi cago, and former chairman of the National Munitions Board. He is a native of Fairfield and has made substantial gifts to Parsons in re cent years. Dwight Tarbell Ewing, educator, (1911). Ewing has been professor of physics and chemistry at Michigan State university, East Lansing, Mich., since 1930. He is a native of Winterset, Ia. Warren Walter Ewing, educator, (1912). Ewing is a resident of Beth lehem, Pa., and professor of chem istry at Lehigh U. He is a native of Winterset and a brother of Dwight Ewing. Harold M. Randall, foreign serv ice officer, (1924). Randall is at tached to the division of commer cial policy, U.S. department of state. He held diplomatic assign ments in Chile, Argentina, Para guay and Spain. A native of Fair field, his home is in Washington, D.C Mabel Coy Trail, educator, (1926). Miss Trail has been a member of the English department at San Diego State college, San Diego, Calif., since 1935. She is a native of Fairfield. Virgil Wallace Peterson, criminal investigator, (1927).
