MARSHAL BEASLEY IN CHARGE OF DOZEN WHO LEAVE TODAY Kincaids Among Them—Three Wom en Also in Group—Surrat Is Given One Year Raleigh county increases its rep resentation in Charleston federal court by an even dozen today, Dep uty Marshal R. PF. Beasley being in charge of that number of prisoners being taken from the Raleigh county jail to appear before Judge George W. McClintic. Among those going this trip will be R. L. Kincaid and Herbert Kin caid, the latter known here through his trial for the murder of Officer Spangler, of Price Hill last spring. He was acquitted on the charge, cir cumstantial evidence being insuffi cient against him, although the de fense did not place a witness on the stand. Three women are in the contingent this trip, and there would have been a fourth had not family conditions been such as to forbid it. Mrs. Shep Wiles, arrested yesterday on a cap ias, was not taken, but her husband and daughter were in the group. The list and the offenses with which they are charged, follows: R. L. Kincaid and Herbert Kin caid, operating a manshine still, J. O H. Sarver, Chas. Hankln and Arnold Rose, arrested at the estab lishment of Luther McGinnis, on the Crab Orchard road, for sale and pos session. McGinnis was arrested with them, but was freed, his case, how ever, being placed in the hands of the U.S. probation officer. The man is now on five years’ probation from the federal court. Alice Plumley and Alex Plumes, possession and sale. The former was under bond for the Bluefield term at the time of her arrest. Chester Snuffer, Evan Rice and Margaret Meisterheim, possesion and sale, arrested at the establishment of Matilda Whorfey, who has been sen tenced to serve a year in the Fayette jail. Shep Wiles and Julia May Wiles, his daughter, arrested on a capias following their indictment. ‘Phelip was also called for the apprehension of“Mrs.”Wiles but conditions in the family were such that Marshal Beas ley did not take her. Surrat Sentneced, Charged with illicit distillation which means that he operated a moonshine still, Charlie Surrat, of near Saxon, was given the second greatest of yesterday's liquor viola tion sentences, when he appeared before the federal court and entered a plea of guilty as charged. He was ordered to pay a fine of 8500 and to serve one year and a day in the Fed eral penitentiary.
