Cromwell, Nov. 29--Some of’ ‘the Academy boys playing football on’ the green, yesterday afternoon, attempted a masse play, and in the mixup, Allie’ Bailey was badly injured. Dr. Sweet was summoned and found that two bones of the arm were broken. Allie seems to be particularly unfortunate in this respect. Not long ago, he fractured his collarbone, and he broke the bones of the same arm in a different place a few weeks ago, by falling from his wheel, and only recently his arm taken out of a sling. Captain and Mrs. Ralph H. Stocking went to Meriden, today, to spend a few days with Dr. and Mrs. Beckley. Raymond Coe arrives home from the Hotchkiss school at Lakeville, ‘tomor row morning,#for Thanksgiving day. Service will be held at the Baptist church, Thursday morning, at 11 o’clock. All denominations are cordial ly invited. : Miss McDonnald, teacher at the Acad emy, will spend Thanksgiving with relatives in New Haven. David Belasco’s ‘La Belle Russe,” is the attraction at the Middlesex, to morrow, matinee and evening. Mrs. Albert Johnson, who has been confted to the house by illness ‘for several weeks is convalescent. Those interested in gospel work are requested to meet at the gospel rooms, tonight at 7.30 o’clock. There will be a moving picture exhi bition in Briggs hall, Saturday evening, Dec. 2d. The posters give assurance that the attraction is one of the finest on the road and that it is “coming sure.” A Swedish missionary, who has been in active service in China for the past eight or ten years, has been visiting in town for a few days. She made an in teresting address at the Swedish Con gregational church on Sunday. There is every prospect for a large attendance and enjoyable time at the public masquerade, to be given in Briggs hall, by the Red, White and Blue Club’ of East Berlin, this eve ning.A large member will accom pany the club from East Berlin. Mrs. Frank Lucas is spending a few days in Hartford with Captain Lucas and son, Harry. (Mr. Johnson has completed work on the veranda and addition to the kitch en of the Baptist parsonage. The ver anda makes a decided improvement in the appearace of the house and is much appreciated by Rev. Mr. Grey and family. Fire Insurance policies written in safe companies, at reasonable rates. H.
