The Other Side. j I)Decatur, Ala., Nov. *lt;27Editor Joubnal:In response to a call for a Republican meeting at Sykes’ new hail on Wednesday evening hundreds of Republicans turned out in full vim and vigor that characteriz ed Republican meetings in the good old days.The meeting was called to order and Mr J W Walden was elected over Mr X T Tia dale by an overwhelming majority.Chas P Sykes nominated John Foun tain for secretary ; Thad J Scott of Somer vllie was nominated by H V Cashin. Mr Scott was elected.Rev W ,1 Pettiford, of Birmingham, ad dressed the meeting in a few well chosen remarks.Rev W J Smith was called for and made a rousing speech infavor of honest educa tion and faithful Republicans to represent Alabama in the nation convention of the Republican party, which the meeting con strued as a declaration infavor of Mr ( ash in and showed its approval by rousing cheers. Loud calls were made for Cashin when ho responded in an unanswerable argument in favor of Gov McKinley of Ohio for President.
