honored. The Winters Lions Club will sponsor this project, and contributions may be sent to Gattis Neely, secretary of the Lions Club. Names of the honorees will be published. Bill Graves, chairman of the horizons committee, presented a program planned for the organization of a high school Bicentennial committee and also on for grade school. Plans are being made to use the Blizzard Band and the elementary choir, the Wonderland Echos, in various programs. Because the horizons committee is to be an ongoing organization, plans for the future such as the establishment of a museum in the old Abilene Southern depot were discussed, and a beginning of planning for the Centennial of Runnels County in 1980. Committee members reported blue bonnet seeds have been purchased, and announcement will be made for the proper time to plant them. Other flowers as well as trees and shrubs will be planted in public places and along roadsides. Mayor Homer Hodge, who presided at the meeting, emphasized that there is a job for each person “in making our city more beautiful.” He read letters from Senators Loyd Benson and John Tower. Mrs. Randy Loudermilk, represent ing the Junior Culture Club, said that her club had taken the project of improving the tennis court at the park, and will make a Bicentennial scrap book. The Literary and Service Club will furnish drapes for the reception room at the Winters Housing Authority. Representing other groups were Ollie Lou Cole, Girl Scouts; George Garrett, Masonic Lodge; Evelyn Garcia and Alice Guevara for the Spanish- American community; and Emma Marks and Charlsie Poe.
