East Structure Lacks Only Rails; Other Well Along The two new bridges over San Felipe Creek, made necessary by re-routing Highway No. 3, will be completed about December 15, high way officials estimated Wednesday. The east bridge has been com pleted with the exception of the rails. The west bridge has all bents and piers erected and four spans completed, leaving only three spans to be finished. Turner Has Contracts Work was awarded on the bridges August 27. L. A. Turner was award ed the contract for building them at approximately $35,000. The bridges are of reinforced con crete, the one over the east fork being of five deck girder spans and the one over the west fork being of seven such spans. The structures were erected north of the city pump house over the two forks of San Felipe Creek. Road Re-Routed Satisfactory progress was report ed on re-routing the highway from 100 yards east of the underpass three miles east of the city to the Devil’s River Road. This work en tails construction of 2.50 miles of road, being done by Brown and Root, Inc., of Austin for $74,634. The road will have a caliche base and limestone rock asphalt surface.
