And in the death of Mrs. Clarissa Murriia we are called to note another of the old settlers as well as one of the most respected ladies in the county. At the ripe old age of over eighty-two years, the end came to this old lady at the home of her daughter,-Mrs. Michael Kelly in English township Monday forenoon.Miss Clarissa • Neil was born in Jefferson county, New York in June 1825. It was at this country home she met and married Laughlin Mur-rin, in 1850. Six years after their marriage, they, like many others became favorably impressed with the opportunities in the far west and came to Iowa in 1850. They settled on a farm near Millersburg where they built up a cosy home and which she owned at the time of her death.To this union were born eight-children, four boys and four girls. One boy Laughlin dying very young and another, James died when advancing to manhood. Two boys, Charles of this place and William of Bagley, Iowa, and four girls, Mrs. Ed. Wagner, Mrs. T. Dillon and Mrs. Michael Kelly of near Millersburg and Mrs. Sara Faas of this place survive her. Her loving and faithful husband proceeded herto the other world six years agolast March.Mrs. Murrin was a faithful wife and mother and through her teachings and good example established the foundation of an industrious, obedient and a good Christain family. The lessons taught them at the mothers knee were so impressive that it has not faded or lost its power. Coming here in the days when there were few in this part of the county she had the opportunity of showing her generosity and wasnot in the least wanting. She wasigieIllsstysirieP;bhinsirloved and respected by all who knew her and she goes to her Eternal home with the prayers and kind words of all who knew her.The funeral was held from the♦Kelly residence Wednesdaj7 morning, Services with a Requiem Mass were held at the Catholic Church at | Millersburg.
