When the engine had passed the bridge. Colonel Meredith—manifesting his usu- ■ al energy and vigilance—dispatched a lt;hand car afler’it, and the fugitive loco mo- 1 tive was brought back to the city in safety. No damage was done except to the M. P. Stovall, which fell from the track, and the freight cars which were crushed by the collision. It was the most novel runaway accident on record. —Augusta Chronicle.
