It baa been sustained main-It through the efforts of the ladies of: tiiat city, and by the contributions of its generous people. During the last few years, the Masonic fraternity of the State has aided in the good work. The undersign has several times vtai-ted the Asylum, and sftcT thorough in- i quiry into its past history and present; management, does most heartily recommend it to the favorable consideration of onr people. Orphan cbilnreu are received there regardless of locality or creed, and are cored for and educated until suitable homes can be provided for them. There are about fiftyl cbih dren there now. The Asylum has no] endowment or other certain income, and is entirely dependent upon public chair* ity. It is believed that many would cheerfully contribute to the support of this Asylum if informed of its necessities. Its treasury is dearly empty; and it is suggested that the pastors of the several Protestant churches throughout the State give their congregation an opportunity.to make a Thanksgiving Offering that will relieve the anxiety of the Lady Managers, and iusure the sup. port of the A«ylnm for .the winter mouths. Lei a collection for this purpose be taken up ut the close of the Thanksgiving discourse, and where, for any cause, ThanKRgivmg services are not observed, let a collection be taken np in the respective churches on the Sabbath succeeding Thanksgiving Day —November 30th. The nraount may be sent to the undersign, who will make due acknowledgement, or can be sent direct to the Treasurer of the Asylum, Mrs. John Fleming. Natchez, Miss, Respectfully.J. L. Power.
