New Insurance Company.—The North Pacific Mutual Life Association is the name of new company which was organized in Portland a month or two ago, I t Is strictly a home company and numbers among itfe o flic era some of Portland’s most solid men. It is a well-known fact that the insurance rates of the Eastern companies are outrageously high, but it is designed by this Association to offer to the public facilities for life insurance at actual cost. The plan offered by the Association proposes that—say 1000 persons of a like or near age baud themselves together for mutual protection to their families, and incase of a death of any one of their number eacli surviving member shall in effect pay to the family of the deceased one dollar. This is the only company whose workings can be readily comprehended by the policy holders, and for tills simple reason we think it will receive a hearty support. Leighton Plain is agent at this place, and any person wishing to inquire into the workings of the Association can get all desired information from him.
