Shuford, after a preliminary hearing growing out of murder charges preferred against them by Louie Whitmire* Specific charge was that Arthur Petit killed Jesse Masters in August of 1926*Justice Shuford refused bond to thetwo men, stating that he would takethe matter of bond up with Solicitor J, Will Pleas, Jr., at an early date.Whitmire is also in jail, being arrested two weeks ago by Deputy Tom Wood on a charge of store breaking and larceny.Charges were preferred against the two Petits by Louie Whitmire immediately after his arrest on the store breaking charge, he asserted that Arthur Petit struck down Masters on(Continued on page «mu)
