••FOOT • BALL**The long talked of football contest between Kiskiminotas college and In* dlana Normal Bchool was played on the grounds of the latter last Saturday afternoon. It Is unnecessary to say that the game was for blood and lots Of It. Bach team presented its strongest array of talent and every bit of ground was systematically rooted up. In this process of rooting the noses of the different teams played no unimportant part. It’s pretty hard to convey to those unacquainted with the rules of the game the scenes attending a contest of this kind. Imagine 22 Stalwart specimens of humanity, 11 on each side, pitted against each other in a struggle for supremacy in which strength and endurance count. Hard knocks, terrific struggles and rough and tumble falls all go to make up fascination of the sport. The game started with the Normals j tn possession of the ball. As it went bounding towards the opposing 11 an indescribable scene followed. Rat h ; Bide rushed upon the other, and eight or nine pairs of legs were nil that; could be distinguished in the mass, i After some time the players were; pulled apart and the game resumed, j The same scenes were repeatedly enacted, but before the game had proceeded very far it became evident that the Normals were too much for their antagonists. They would wade right through the barrier presented by Kin- j kiminetas and place the ball in the ■ coveted position behind the goal posts. The game was very exciting at times, particularly so during the last ID minutes. The Normal'boys had the ball within a foot of the goal and were straining every nerve to secure the other twelve inches. On the other band their opponents were doing all they could to prevent such a move. Three times diet the Normals try their mighty rushing tactics, but. the plucky ! little fellows IVom Saltsburg frustrated I their every attempt. Strength pre- j vailed in the end, however, and the j ball was pushed into its haven of safety, while 20 lithe and active bodies were piled over it.The game resulted in an overwhelming victory for the Normal team by a score of 32 to 0.At the conclusion of the game? the students of the school rushed wildly on the field and carried their favorites from the grounds. At the entrance into the Normal enclosure they were stopped by a bevy of female students, who presented the team with a beauti* fbl silk banner on which was inscribed “Champions, 1890.” Miss Edna Chester made the presentation speech.Following is the game by plays:
