The ease of General Dudley, indicted for the burning of the MeSween house in Lincoln, is set by the Court for to-day. The General has been ebmpelled’to undertake a journey o f over eight hundred miles to meet the charges against him, and on his arrival here with , his witnesses there are hone to appear against him. Mrs. MeSweeh, the leading witness for the prosecution, coolly informs the Court , that she had •employed counsel t o 'prosecute the case and oil account of the failure o f .that counsel to appear in Lincoln and escort her here she-had been Unable to attend. Ge.nl. Dudley is thus put to an expense of over..fifty dollars, a ■Iday upon a most grave charge and;is entirely without redress Judge Bristol has'stated that the ease must be disposed of at the present term, and unless witnesses for the prosecution appear it will .doubtless be dismissed. The defense in/ isists upon a trial and do no wish the case dismissed.
